Indian students are currently the largest group of international students studying in the UK. More than 64,000 Indian students are currently studying in the UK pursuing either post graduation or undergraduation. This amounts for 46% of the total international students in the UK. Now that the fall intake has started, only around 21,000 applications have been submitted by Indian students for the universities in the UK. This is a 16% drop compared to last year. One of the biggest reasons why there has been a decline in the number of students going to the UK for higher education. The British government has been planning to curb international students for a very long time now. Looking at this, international students are no longer optimistic about the UK as a potential study abroad destination.
