Indian students worry as OBC scholarship get delayed

posted on: November 11, 2023

In 2022, the state government of Maharashtra increased the number of overseas education scholarships for OBC students from 10 to 50 annually. 50 students were promised to be helped by the government to study abroad by providing financial support. For the session 2023, all the selected students have started classes with their respective international universities but are yet to receive the scholarship. Many students have already paid for all the expenses by taking out a loan or not waiting to receive the scholarship amount. The officials said that most of the students will receive the scholarship amount by the end of November since the documents are under review by the state government. The officials have said that initially the expenses had to be borne by the students and it is only later on that the scholarship will be given in the form of reimbursement.
