Insurance coverage as an international student in Australia

posted on: July 25, 2022

Insurance coverage is a very pivotal thing in today's time. Although we all try to have a good and healthy lifestyle, medical emergencies are unpredictable and can cause a major bummers in our savings. Sometimes the savings are not enough to cover the medical expenses and that's when we feel the most helpless. As an international student, it is a must to get insurance because anyways you are living alone in a distant country all by yourself and very vulnerable to everything. As an international student in Australia, it is a compulsion to maintain your health insurance. The Department of Home Affairs will go through the student's OHSC reports and afterward the visa is granted. The insurance covers health and medical treatment, ambulance services, and pharmaceutical items which makes healthcare affordable for students. Services such as medical repatriation are also available but they come under additional plans in OSHC.
