As the government of Canada has decided to impose stringent measures to tackle the problem of over immigration in the country, international students are trying to navigate different routes to get a student visa. One of these is to apply for a visitor visa and go to the country on a temporary basis and then eventually apply for a student visa. Currently, Canada has imposed a cap and will only be approving 360,000 student visa applications for 2024. This has led to the rejection of a lot of visa applications from India as well as other parts of the world. While there is still a difference of opinion on whether applying for a visitor visa to get a student visa is legal or not, many experts say that with the right kind of documents, it is still very much possible to get a student visa for Canada. Also, first applying for a visitor visa and staying in Canada while waiting for a student visa is comparatively more expensive as compared to directly applying for a student visa and awaiting the response.
