Around 5 to 7 years ago, most of the Chinese students who wanted to study abroad had the USA as the top study abroad destination in their mind. But looking at the data now, Chinese students have been showing less interest in going to the USA for higher education. There has been a 30% drop in the number of Chinese students going to the USA in 2022 as compared to the previous years. Most of it has to do with issues related to racism and discrimination. Also China has stronger ties with many other countries which makes the immigration process a lot easier for Chinese students. Lately there have been political tensions between China and USA which is why most of the Chinese students are reluctant towards going to the USA for higher education.
