While applying for international universities, students having a gap year, generally have to explain why they took a gap year. Some international universities are very strict towards their gap year policies. Many students even believe that international universities prefer young students who do not have a big gap between the current degree that they want to pursue and the last degree that they pursued. Generally age is not a big barrier for international students, but it is important to convince the university and the embassy that you are a genuine student who has intentions of completing their higher education only. It is crucial to write a very effective statement that conveys to the reader what your future plans are, and why are you pursuing the degree so late. It is even better that you explain all that you have done during your gap years, and what made you decide to pursue the degree now. If all your reasons or convincing and genuine, then age doesn't really create a problem
