This can be one of the largest or even the largest strike in the history of education. There was a similar strike in the UK bank in 2019. The strike was initiated mainly because of pension and salaries related problems. The faculty was demanding a hike in salaries as they claimed that the universities had not been taking their demands into consideration.

Due to the current ongoing crisis in the UK, the faculty is demanding a 3% rise in the pensions and salaries. Other than this a lot of extra demands have been put forward as well. This includes bridging up of gender based income gaps, decreasing weekly work hours to 34 hours a week, decreasing work load and paying attention towards discrimination related to ethicity and disabilities. Due to the excessive capitalisation of education, universities have been hiring teachers on short-term basis as per their own requirements. This has decrease the work security of professors and teachers. A solution regarding the same has also been demanded.
