According to the latest survey, it has been found that there has been a substantial rise in the number of international students from Japan, studying in foreign universities. In 2022, five times more students went to foreign universities from Japan compared to 2021. In 2021, just 6000 students went to study abroad, whereas around 30,000 students went abroad in 2022. One of the major reasons is the dip in online programmes. Most universities have now started offering online modes of education. Students must now shift to their universities in person to attend offline classes. The top study-abroad destination for Japanese students is Canada, followed by Australia.
