Rules regarding working part time in the United States of America

Many students worldwide are unclear whether the United States of America grants students permission to work part-time in order to support their education. Well, the answer is yes, students are allowed to work part-time as a means to manage their finances side-by-side as living in the USA can be quite expensive. Here are the rules regarding working part-time in the US-

  • Students are not allowed to work part-time off-campus jobs in the first year of their education.
  • Students from countries having M1 and F1 visas can work only in specific programs on the campus.
  • Students get permission to work 20 hours a week while managing their studies.
  • During vacations and summer or winter breaks students can work full time.
  • In order to get a part-time job on campus, a student must register herself in the placement cell of the college that deals with providing students part-time jobs in the campus.
