posted on: March 16, 2023

There are many universities around the world that offer special scholarships to students from underdeveloped and developing countries. The motive of the scholarships is to finance the study of students who cannot afford to pay such high tuition fees. Here is a list of scholarships in Canada, especially for African students.

  1. TMU Postdoctoral Fellowships for Black Scholars

The scholarship recognises the barriers that black students have to face to pursue higher education. So, a number of black students are selected every year under the scholarship. A funding worth C$70,000 is granted to selected students in total.

  1. Richard Van Loon Scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the Richard J. Van Loon Scholarship. It is awarded to one outstanding African student every year and the selected students granted C$5000.

  1. International English Scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the University of Ottawa. There are two scholarships under this scholarship. The entrance scholarship and the excellent scholarships make up for the international English scholarship. The selected students are granted around C$20,000 every year.

  1. Africa Continent Scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the University of Niagara. It is specially meant for students who are starting their education. It is generally given to students in their first term. So students can start applying for the scholarship at the time of the university application process.
