QS Rankings also assesses the subject areas offered by colleges and ranks them accordingly. UCalagary acquired the first position nationally in Hospitality and Leisure Management. Now six subject areas from UCalagary have been ranked under top six courses globally by QS in its subject rankings. These subject areas are-

• Anatomy and Physiology (5th nationally, 38th globally) 
• Engineering – Petroleum (2nd nationally, 38th globally) 
• Hospitality and Leisure Management (1st nationally, 43rd globally) 
• Nursing (6th nationally, 40th globally) 
• Sports-Related Subjects (4th nationally, 19th globally) 
• Veterinary Science (3rd nationally, 37th globally) 

The QS Rankings considers four pointers while assessing universities- academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, and H-index.
