IELTS and TOEFL are the major language proficiency tests that international students have to take. In India, there has been 53% growth in the number of test takers for these exams. But over time students have started questioning the short validity period of these two exams. As per the rules, both IELTS and TOEFL are eligible for 24 months. After that the eligibility of these two tests expire and students have to retake them. Most students believe that this is a way of making money as nobody actually forgets a language in two years. English is a compulsory language for most of the schools in India. Majority of the students applying for international universities have studied English during their high school and the medium of education during higher education is also in English. In such a case, the validity period of language proficiency tests should be extended as it will help in saving a lot of money.
