As per the latest decision by the UGC, students pursuing a four year bachelor's degree and having more than 75% marks in the course will be allowed to pursue a PhD programme from any university of the country. To apply for UGC NET, students need at least 55% aggregate marks in the masters degree. However, to shorten the path, this new decision by UGC will be beneficial for a lot of students who are able to score the minimum required marks in their bachelors. Students from reserved categories will get a relaxation of 5%. There will be no restriction on the discipline that they want to pursue. this new decision by UGC is in alignment with NEP 2020.
