Supreme court of India asks all the universities and institutes of the country to follow regulations by UGC

posted on: April 16, 2024

The Supreme Court of India has made it compulsory for all Indian universities and education institutes to follow the regulations released by UGC. For a very long time, teaching staff at various universities have expressed their concerns over the mismanagement and lack of regulation when it came to the hiring process of faculty. UGC has made it compulsory for all universities to follow a standard hiring process. To avoid such problems, on 15th April, 2024, the Supreme Court took the decision. UGC is the governing body for all education institutes in the country. Despite this many universities and education institutes violate the guidelines released by UGC. Now in this landmark decision given by the Supreme Court of the country, it has become compulsory for universities to adhere to the guidelines of the UGC and the power of the UGC has been reinstated.
