The Australian government proposes a law to punish immigrants who breach visa conditions

posted on: November 16, 2023

The Australian government has recently proposed a new law under which any immigrant with a criminal history can face a prison time up to 5 years because of violating the visa conditions. The Australian government has recently released 84 foreigners who were guilty or accused of various crimes. Generally it is considered unconstitutional of a country to hold a person as a prisoner, who is not their citizen.

However, considering the increasing number of crimes done by immigrants, the Australian government is considering introducing this new law. Over the time Australia has become a very popular study abroad destination. The inflow of foreign students has been increasing every year. As a result, the crime committed by these students is also on the rise.
