Indian students were offered the second highest dependent visas in 2023. approximately 43,445 dependent visas were issued to Indian students and their dependents. This is a 1900% increase as compared to 2019 when just over 2000 dependent visas were issued to Indian nationals. The highest in the tally are Nigerian students. Looking at the high number of dependents in the country, the UK has decided to modify its immigration policy and will not be allowing any more dependents from 2024.
There has been an increase of 5% in the number of dependent visas issued to Indian students in 2023 as compared to the previous year. As per data 5804 more dependent visas have been issued to Indian nationals in 2023. Indian students had an approval rate of 97% and around 5000 visa applications were rejected by the UK from India. The highest visa acceptance rate was for Chinese students that stood at 99%.
