The UK government to review the Immigration Graduate route

posted on: April 10, 2024

The Graduation Immigration Route was introduced by the government of the UK in 2021. It allowed international students who came to the country after July, 2021 to stay in the country for two more years after their education had been completed. The GIR who was previously called the post study work visa, which was introduced in 2007. It has now been three years since the GIR was introduced and now the UK government is thinking of reviewing the whole immigration policy. If the UK government decides to discontinue the GIR, then it will be a great deal of problem for international students. The UK is one of the top study abroad destinations for Indian students. Most of the students who visit the UK avail some sort of education loan that is paid back by working in the UK. If the Graduation Immigration route is discontinued, then international students will not get the opportunity to stay back in the country and make money.
