The United Kingdom has decided to stop offering dependent visas to international students from January 2024. Only students pursuing postgraduate studies with a research focus will be allowed to come to the country with a dependent visa. This move will help the UK solve the problem of excess immigration. The UK remains committed to attracting at least 600,000 students every year. But, by focusing on reducing the number of dependent visas that are issued every year, there will be more utilization of resources at the right places. Instead, the government can offer more study-abroad visas to international students.
