The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has amended the DHS STEM by adding eight new degree programmes to the list. This list is used to determine the eligibility of a particular student for an F1 visa to the US. The F1 visa is given to only selected students whose degree programmes fall under the DHS list. Students who have this visa can apply for a 24 months extension after completing their studies in the US. The STEM OPT list is specially for students who will pursue degrees in the field of science, technology, engineering and management. These are the new programmes added in the list.
