The United States of America has been the top most study abroad destination for Indian students in 2022. Despite the economic recession and unfavourable immigration policies, the US still retains at the top position. Most of the top study abroad destinations have moulded their immigration policies to attract more students. Countries like Australia, France and the UK have introduced milder immigration laws and made studying abroad easier for international students. Still the top choice of most students who went to foreign countries for higher education is the US. Out of the 1300,000 Indian students who went to study abroad between 2017 to 2022, more than 468,000 students went to the US. This is followed by Canada and the UAE. Generally students who are unable to travel to the US for higher education because of visa rejection go to other countries as their second resort.
