The US to open more consulates in India to avoid visa delays

posted on: November 20, 2023

The United States of America is aiming to open more consulates in India to make visa facilities more accessible to students. A recent consulate was opened in Hyderabad. Now the US is aiming to open more consulates in cities like Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. The existing staff in the current offices in the different parts of the country will also be increased so that more visa applications are processed on a regular basis. The US Ambassador Eric Garcetti has said that the number of visas being processed in India for the US has increased by 1/3rd in the past two weeks. With the current speed, it is highly likely that there will be a rise in 10% to 15% of visas processed in this year as compared to the previous.

Garcetti also said that the delay in the processing of visa applications is also because of the high number of visa applications from other countries like Brazil and Mexico due to which technical issues keep on arriving now and then.
