The United States of America is ready to launch its pilot domestic visa renewal programme. This will benefit domestic visa holders in specific H1B categories, especially in the technical skilled area field. H1B visa is used by top firms and companies in the US to hire skilled labour. The initial program is just limited to 20,000 seats. This mission will broadly focus on skilled Indian individuals who want to work in the US. Majority of the seats are to be given to Indian professionals. This will save a lot of time and the skilled workers won't have to go back to their respective countries to get a work visa.
The US department plans to increase the number of seats and the categories eligible for this domestic visa renewal program in 2024. The government first wants to check the efficacy of this program after which further steps will be taken.
