Tie-ups between foreign universities and Indian universities now simplified

posted on: April 23, 2022

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has made it easier for Indian universities to offer courses in collaboration with foreign universities through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). In a recent meeting of UGC it was decided that any Indian University that has has a National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grading of 3.01 or above, or is among the top 1,000 QS World University or Times Higher Education rankings, or is among the top 100 universities under National Institution Ranking Framework, will be able to collaborate with any foreign university which also features under the top 1000 QS World University rankings easily. The previous regulations of UGC which were launched in 2016 required universities to take UGC' approval. The chairperson of UGC said that the previous rules were too strict and now the process has been simplified for the benefit of students.
