Tuition fee hike in the UK universities

posted on: November 10, 2022

There has been an official call for hikes in the universities of England and Wales. As a consequence of long overdue salary hikes for the university staff, the universities have decided to hike the tuition fees. This hike in tuition fees will be used to increase the loan payments of the teaching faculty. Currently the average tuition fees in England for an international student is £9250 per year. The government decided to freeze this amount by 2025. But now this will have to be revised in order to increase the payments of the teaching faculty. Most likely the tuition fees will touch the €12,000 or €13,000 number. This means that students will have to take higher loan amounts. Higher amounts of loans mean higher interest rates. This can even lead to debt trap in some cases as students will not be able to earn as much they have to pay back. In the coming years the number of 18 year olds is likely to increase by 24% which means that more students will join universities and colleges. As the demand for education will increase, the economy of the company will also boom.
