UGC has given permission to all the higher education institutions in the country to admit students twice a year. Earlier most of the universities in India gave admission to students only once a year. However, now students will get the opportunity to enrol in a university of their choice twice a year. This will lead to less wastage of time and better seat allocation. The concept of dual intake system is already very prevalent in a lot of Western countries. This decision by the UGC will come into effect from 2024-2025.
