UGC forms a news panel to make rules for branches of foreign universities in India

posted on: April 23, 2022

UGC has formed a new panel that will form the latest rules regarding the establishment of new campuses of foreign universities in India and vice versa. The panel consists of 16 members and will regulate everything that falls under this category. Last year IIT Delhi had sought approvals to open 2 campuses, one in Saudi Arabia and the other in Egypt.  The International Institute of Technology Research Academy in Mauritius decision saw a lot of objections and against stances. Recently, New Education Policy (NEP) specified that if an Indian University wants to open its campus then it has to seek approval from three Union ministries – education, external affairs and home affairs.
