UGC has drafted new guidelines regarding the recognition of colleges in India. All of these guidelines will be applicable to the existing colleges as well as the new colleges that are yet to be established in the country. To be recognised as a college in the country, a college must arrange for the establishment documents, affiliation certificate by the university and approval of the regulatory body stating that the college is complying with the regulations of UGC.
Any college that doesn't already have a recognition by the UGC must get one within three years of the initial notice. If UGC finds that a college is operating without proper documents despite several notices, then it can remove the name of the institute from the recognised education institute list of the country.
