UGC has released guidelines regarding foreign universities and edtech platforms that are offering online courses to students in India. In the notification, UGC has said that any foreign university or platform must take permission from UGC before offering courses to students in the country. Any degree or collaboration that has not been given permission by the UGC will not be recognised in the country. Students must also check the validity of a particular online program before enrolling for the same. All you have to do is simply go on the official website of UGC and check if the course or the program that you want to take is registered or not.
Many institutions from India and abroad have recently collaborated without taking any permission from UGC. These institutions are offering courses to students in various disciplines. Such courses will not have any validity in India without having the accreditation or the approval of UGC.
