Universities in Australia request the government to exempt study-related work hours

posted on: January 25, 2023

After the coronavirus pandemic, Australia decided to remove all kinds of restrictions on the number of hours students were allowed to work part-time. This means that students could work for an unlimited number of hours even with their classes going on. But this decision was later on changed by the government of Australia as the quality of education was being impacted. Now students are allowed to work only up to 20 hours a week while managing their classes. This decision has been welcomed by the universities of Australia. But the universities have requested the government to not count the study related work in the per week working hours.

Unlimited number of working hours for students is a kind of exploitation. It hampers their study and they're not able to focus on the real purpose of migration which is their education. This is the reason why the government of Australia has decided to put a limitation on the number of hours that students can work part time. But all the universities in Australia have said that study related workers should be exempted. These working hours will serve as an experience and will help all the international students in getting placed.
