Visa rejection rates for the US F1 student Visa reach an all-time high

posted on: April 23, 2024

The visa rejection rate for the US student F1 visa has reached an all-time high. In 2023, around 36% of the total applications were rejected totalling 253,355 visa refusals. This number was almost double of the number of student visas rejected in 2022. This year more than 250,000 student visas have already been rejected surpassing the 2023 mark as well.  The impact of these visa refusals is worth $7 billion on the economy of the US. More than 1 million international students that are currently studying in the US have contributed around $40 billion to the economy of the US. However the US just like other countries is currently struggling with the problem of over immigration.
