What is the new C-19 Bill passed by the Canadian government?

posted on: August 01, 2022

The Canadian government has recently passed a new C-19 Bill that has attracted a lot of criticism from the public. The bill will affect the people applying for their PR and is likely to cause problems for them. Initially, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invites candidates for applying for the PR after which analysis is done and international students apply through Canadian Experience Class (CEC) for an after-study work visa. Candidates were selected through point criteria under which factors such as education, work experience, and language skills were taken into consideration. But under the new bill, IRCC has the power to handpick anyone of their choice and your scores wouldn't really matter. It's more like a need-based approach where certain professions may be given more weightage than others despite the low rankings of the individual. The selection is more likely dependent upon the labor requirement which people are finding very selfish of the government of Canada.
