The New Permanent Education number has been started by the West Bengal government as an initiative to align with the NEP 2020. This will act like an identification number of an 11 digit that will be unique to every student. The number will carry all the previous and present information related to academics of a particular child. The students will not have to submit their documents again and again at different places as entering this number would be enough. The West Bengal government has made this initiative compulsory for all schools from this year onwards. The PEN system comes under the NEP 2020 and aims to form the policy of one nation, one student identity.
