All international students who are eager to study in the US are often confused because of the so many legal and immigration obligations that they have to fulfil. One such obligation that needs to be fulfilled is the SEVIS fee. There are a lot of international students who will be going to study in the US through the student and exchange visitor program. The students have to fill a form called the Form 1-20. It is only after filling this form that the students going to the US under the exchange program can apply for a student visa. The student visa issued under this category is called the F and the M student visa. F and M student visas can be issued 365 days before the person actually has to travel. However, one can only apply for this kind of visa after paying the SEVIS fee. One can pay this fee after they have finalised their institution.
