Which countries have the most powerful passport and why does it matter for students?

posted on: July 20, 2022

Having a powerful passport doesn't help in waiving off visa restrictions but for sure helps in easing them up. A passport ensures free movement of a person from one country to another. For example a student from Ghana can travel to only 82 countries in the world without prior visa approval which is totally opposite for a Dutch student. Students with rather less powerful passports might have to go through more intensive checkings and expensive visa approvals than students with more powerful passports. Here is a list of the most powerful passports in the world-

  • Japan (193 destinations)
  • Singapore and South Korea (192 destinations)
  • Germany and Spain (190 destinations)
  • Finland, Italy and Luxembourg (189 destinations)
  • Austria, Denmark, Netherlands and Sweden (188 destinations)
  • France, Ireland, Portugal and UK (187 destinations)
  • Belgium, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland and United States (186 destinations)
  • Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Greece and Malta (185 destinations)
  • Hungary (183 destinations)
  • Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia (182 destinations)
