Four years China has been the number one market of international students for the USA and the UK. But recently India surpassed China by becoming the number one exporter of international students to the USA and the UK. There has been an increase of 273% of the student visas issued to Indian students. The number of student visas granted to Chinese students is 2% lower than the number of visas granted to Indian students.
This whole situation is a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The coronavirus pandemic actually brought a lot of changes in the geopolitical scenario. The political situation currently is quite different from what it was a couple of years ago. China and the United States of America no longer share a very close relation with each other. A lot of restrictions have been imposed and that has worried Chinese students about going back to home after completing their education. Indian students on the other hand had been waiting for two years for things to get normal. Now as soon as restrictions have been removed, students from India or going in abundance to different countries for studying.
