Why is the accommodation crisis in the UK still unsolved

posted on: October 21, 2023

The perpetual crisis of accommodation is one of the biggest challenges for students who are going to the UK for higher education. In 2022, over 55,000 students went to the UK for higher education. The number has been increasing ever since and more and more students are interested in studying in the UK. All the students are facing the problem of accommodation in some of the busiest cities of the UK that are also the top study abroad destinations for international students. The availability is very less and the rents have gone extremely high.

The university provided accommodation is available in very limited numbers and due to its high cost a lot of students do not even pay for it. Most students are delaying their plans of studying in the UK and pursuing their degrees online till the problem of accommodation doesn't get solved. The UK government has said that due to the overflow of international students after the pandemic, there has been a shortage of accommodation. The government is actively working to offer more living facilities to international students.
