Cost of Studying in New Zealand

The currency of New Zealand is the New Zealand Dollar ($NZD). New Zealand university fees are different for varied courses and colleges. Depending on the university or college a student selects, the tuition fees vary accordingly. New Zealand has variable options to study and the institutions are divided into three categories which are the university, ITP Government college (Institute of Technology Polytechnic), and PTE private college (Private Training Establishment). University tuition fees could range between NZD $ 22,000 to NZD $ 33,000 yearly, ITP government colleges could range from NZD $ 18,000 to NZD $ 28,000 and PTE private colleges could range from NZD $ 15,000 to NZD $ 22,000.

International students can expect the below tuition fee in New Zealand for different degrees:

  1. $21,200 and $34,000 for bachelor’s degrees.
  2. $27,000 and $39,000 for master’s degrees.

However the cost of studying in New Zealand varies depending on selected degrees, for example, the cost for studying Law will cost approx  $22,000 and $30,000 and  Engineering will be approx $45,000.

However, tuition fees for courses like medicine, engineering or veterinary science, could be a little costly.

Living costs depend on where a student can choose to live in New Zealand. For a student, pursuing a course in New Zealand for more than a year is required to prove at least $15,000 to support themselves for the first year. If a student studying for up to a year should have at least $1,250 for each month of study.

Scholarship Programs in New Zealand

Few top-ranking universities in New Zealand also offer scholarship programs for international students depending on their course of study and other eligible criteria at all levels of education. These are offered by the universities themselves, or by the government of New Zealand. Work-Study Programs in New Zealand

Individuals with a student visa are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during term time, and full time out of term time. Students completing a Masters by Research or PhD are able to work full time throughout their studies, including term time.

Student Visas for New Zealand

If you will be staying in New Zealand for more than 3 months, you may need to apply for a student visa. Students from Australia or other countries with an agreement with New Zealand do not need to apply for a visa. Students must apply with the attested academic year documents

Once you have your student’s visa for New Zealand, you can stay in the country for up to four years and is permitted to work up to 20 hours per week. You must be enrolled in an approved university or college in New Zealand and have the money to pay for your course. Admission requirements for New Zealand universities

A student is required to have the following things for applying for admission in  New Zealand Universities:

  1. The academic record of AISSCE of CBSE or Indian School Certificate would be equivalent to Form 7 (matriculation) of New Zealand Secondary Education.
  2. Evidence of an adequate level of competence in English is required for international students. A minimum score of 550 or a scaled score 0-30(80-120) for TOEFL is required for Undergraduate courses whereas a score of 600 or a scaled score of 0-30(80- 120).
  3. For IELTS a score of 6.0 for UG courses and 6.5 for PG courses is required.
  4. Visa and valid passport
  5. Documents supporting finances during the course of study are required to submit.

In a nutshell, Good academics, English language proficiency score, personal statement, and resume are required to apply for any admissions in NZ university.
