Candidates who wish to appear for IELTS must be above 16 years of age.

Types of IELTS

IELTS score

IELTS scores are reported on a band scale of 0-9, the score is given for each test and then averaged and rounded for the final score.

IELTS score is valid for 2 years after you obtain your result.

IELTS test question topics

Listening

This section is covered in 4 parts and the student will be given audio clips. It could either be dialogues or monologues of approximately 3 minutes and will be played only once.

Writing

In this section, the candidate will be assessed on their skills and fluency to write a general report, letter or short essay. The section comprises 2 tasks only.

Reading

This section has questions regarding identifying questions for short answers, sentence or summary completion, and identifying the writer’s ideas or views.

Speaking

This section is conducted like an interview; it would evaluate the communication skills and the proficiency in the language and how well you can speak English.

Registration, exam date, and result date

The registration for the IELTS opens multiple times a year.
