The Horatio Alger Denny Sanford Scholarship is funded by the Association Member Denny Sanford, the owner and founder of First Premier Bank. This scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who are intending to attend select schools across the region.
Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines
To be eligible, an applicant:

High school senior students planning to attend the below-mentioned universities are considered eligible to contest for this scholarship:

| Nova Southeastern University (Fort Lauderdale, FL) | 10 | $10,000 |
| South Dakota School of Mines | 15 | $10,000 |
| South Dakota State University | 25 | $10,000 |
| University of California at San Diego | 10 | $25,000 |
| University of Minnesota | 25 | $10,000 |
| University of Sioux Falls | 6 | $25,000 |
| University of South Dakota | 25 | $10,000 |
