In January 2021, Aswan University hosted its inaugural entrepreneurship contest, awarding top student innovations like a solar-distillation unit for essential oils, an EFHA ventilator, and livestock feed made from fish-processing byproducts. Winners received mentoring, incubation, national-level competition access, and financial rewards. In November 2020, Aswan University officially handed over two student-driven initiatives to Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education: a solar lighting retrofit for educational buildings and a value-chain system for medicinal plant oil production. During the past decade, Aswan University has partnered with global research institutes in archaeological conservation, biotechnology, water resources, and energy engineering. Since its independence in 2012, Aswan University has expanded from a handful of disciplines to 18 faculties (engineering, medicine, archaeology, nursing, fisheries, languages, etc.) plus institutes in African & Nile Basin studies and nursing technology.
