Step-by-Step Guide to Admission Requirements at Brown University

    1.    Academic Excellence: Applicants are expected to have a distinguished academic record, typically with a high GPA. While Brown does not specify a minimum GPA, successful candidates often graduate at or near the top of their class. The university recommends that students undertake a minimum of four, preferably five, rigorous courses across core subjects each year of secondary school. 

    2.    Standardized Test Scores: Beginning with the 2024-2025 admission cycle, Brown requires first-year applicants to submit standardized test scores. Applicants must provide either SAT or ACT scores. The middle 50% of admitted students typically score between 1500 and 1570 on the SAT or between 34 and 35 on the ACT. 

    3.    Application Components:

    •    Completed Application: Submit through the Common Application along with the Brown-specific questions.

    •    Secondary School Report: Including official high school transcripts.

    •    Letters of Recommendation: Two from teachers and one from a school counselor.

    •    Personal Essay: As part of the Common Application.
