A research team led by GTU’s Faculty of Agricultural Sciences & Biosystem Engineering won a prestigious national research grant from the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (Georgia) for a project titled: “Development of new synbiotic and probiotic beverages of grape origin…,” blending microbial biotechnology with grape-based food innovation .
GTU successfully integrated into the Horizon Europe International Association Agreement, providing Georgian academics and students with full access to the EU’s €95.5 billion research and innovation programme. As part of this initiative, a national Horizon Europe Office was inaugurated at GTU to coordinate grant submissions and scientific collaboration with EU institutions .
In recognition of its vast contributions to the development of education, science, and nation-building over 100 years, GTU received the Golden Order of St. George, the highest honor of the Georgian Orthodox Church, underscoring its national significance in technical and scientific progress .
As part of its engineering innovation infrastructure, GTU has established a mini hydroelectric power station laboratory. This hands-on facility allows students and researchers to conduct real-world experiments in hydroengineering, renewable energy, and fluid mechanics—promoting applied research and innovation in sustainable energy.
