Step-by-Step Guide to Admission Requirements at Alma College

Alma College offers a personalized and holistic admissions process for prospective bachelor’s degree students. Here’s an overview of the key requirements:

Application Process

• Application Form: Prospective students can apply through Alma College’s free online application or via the Common Application.

• High School Transcripts: Applicants must submit transcripts detailing at least three years of completed high school coursework. These should be sent to [email protected]. Official transcripts are required upon enrollment.

Academic Requirements

• Grade Point Average (GPA): Students with a cumulative high school GPA of 2.75 or higher are automatically considered for admission without the need to submit standardized test scores through the fall of 2025. Alternative admissions pathways are available for students with a GPA below 2.75, and such cases are addressed individually.

• Standardized Test Scores: While not mandatory for students meeting the GPA criterion, applicants may choose to submit ACT or SAT scores to supplement their application. For those who do, the middle 50% of admitted students have SAT scores ranging from 980 to 1210 and ACT scores between 18 and 25.

Additional Recommendations

• College Preparatory Courses: While not strictly required, it is recommended that applicants complete a curriculum that includes courses in English, mathematics, science, and social studies to strengthen their application.

• Letters of Recommendation and Personal Essays: Alma College considers letters of recommendation and personal statements as part of the application process. These components provide insight into an applicant’s character, experiences, and motivations.
