The below information is required while
completing the university application :
1. Academic Preparation:
• High School Coursework: Applicants are expected to have a strong high school academic record. While specific course requirements are not detailed, a rigorous curriculum is recommended.
2. Grade Point Average (GPA):
• A competitive GPA is essential. The average GPA of admitted students is approximately 3.8 on a 4.0 scale.
3. Standardized Test Scores:
• SAT or ACT: UB has adopted a test-optional policy, allowing applicants to decide whether to submit SAT or ACT scores. For those who choose to submit, the middle 50% ranges are:
• SAT: 1210 to 1380
• ACT: 27 to 32
4. Application Materials:
• Application Form: Submit through the Common Application, Coalition for College Application, or SUNY Application.
• Application Fee: $50
• Transcripts: Official high school transcripts are required.
• Personal Essay: Optional but recommended to provide insight into the applicant’s experiences and aspirations.
• Letters of Recommendation: Optional but can strengthen the application.
• English Proficiency: Non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency through tests such as:
• TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 79
• IELTS Academic: Minimum score of 6.5
• Duolingo English Test: Minimum score of 120
