ETSU played a pioneering role in opioid overdose prevention efforts by leading naloxone distribution programs across Appalachia starting in 2015. Recognizing the opioid epidemic's impact on the region, ETSU’s Department of Public Health partnered with local organizations to develop programs for distributing naloxone kits and educating communities on overdose response.
