The Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is a public research university in Mainz, Rhineland Palatinate, Germany, It was named after Johannes Gutenberg. This University is one of the ten largest universities in Germany. It was first opened in 1477 by Adolf's successor. It became one of the largest Catholic universities in Europe. The Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is one of few campus universities in Germany. The Campus has electron accelerator MAMI, the research reactor TRIGA, the botanical garden, a sports stadium, and an indoor swimming pool. Mainz Academy of Arts is located off campus.
