English architect Norman Robert Foster, Baron Foster of Thames Bank, was born on June 1, 1935. Lord Foster is regarded as a pivotal figure in British modernist architecture and is closely linked to the advancement of high-tech architecture. Originally established as Foster Associates in 1967, his firm Foster + Partners is the biggest in the UK and has operations abroad. The Norman Foster Foundation was founded to "promote interdisciplinary thinking and research to help new generations of architects, designers, and urbanists to anticipate the future," and he also serves as its president. Founded in June 2017, the Madrid-based nonprofit has operations all around the world. In 1999, Foster was awarded the Pritzker Prize. View Less
