Step-by-Step Guide to Admission Requirements at RMIT University

completing the university application :

1. Academic Requirements

Completion of Australian Year 12 or an international equivalent such as:

International Baccalaureate (IB)

A-Levels (UK curriculum)

Indian Senior Secondary Certificate (CBSE/ISC)

American High School Diploma (with SAT/ACT if required)

A minimum ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) or equivalent score (varies by program).

Some programs have prerequisite subjects (e.g., Mathematics for Engineering, Biology/Chemistry for Health Sciences).

2. English Language Proficiency

International students must meet minimum English requirements, proven by one of the following:

IELTS: Overall 6.5 (no band less than 6.0).

TOEFL iBT: Minimum 79 (with Writing 21).

PTE Academic: Minimum 58 (no section below 50).

Cambridge English (C1 Advanced): Overall 176, with no band below 169.

Duolingo English Test (DET): Minimum 110.

Exemptions: Students who studied in an English-speaking institution for at least two years may qualify for a waiver.
