Alexandria University History

Alexandria University is an Egyptian university located in the coastal city of Alexandria. The university was founded in the year 1938 as a satellite campus of Fouad University and was granted independent university status in 1942. It adopted its present name post the Egyptian revolution of 1952. The university presently enrolls over 150,000 students and employs over 7000 staff.

Alexandria University comprises of 23 faculties offering a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level programs in Arts, Law, Commerce, Engineering, Science, Agriculture, Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physical Education, Public Health, Fine Arts, and Agriculture.

Alexandria University also offers programs in Education, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Medical Research, Tourism and Hotels, Specific Education, Economic Studies, and Political Science in addition to research centers catering to the academic community.

Alexandria University Campuses

Alexandria University is the second-largest university in Egypt and has its campus located in the city of Alexandria. The university also maintains secondary campuses in Iraq, South Sudan, and Chad. The university campus is home to all the faculties and administrative buildings.

Alexandria University comprises of Library of Alexandria which has received grants from United Nations Development Program and UNESCO to revive the old Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The university campus offers a wide range of services to students including sports, recreation, leisure, and health facilities.
