Algonquin College Ottawa

Algonquin College is named in honor of the Algonquin First Nations Peoples who first lived in the Ottawa Valley. It is a publicly funded English-language college located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  

University History

In 1967 Algonquin College was founded in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The college was established during the formation of Ontario's college system. The founding institutions in Ottawa were the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology and the Ontario Vocational Centre Ottawa (OVC). The first Principal of the Ontario Vocational Centre (OVC) was Kenneth G. Shoultz. In 1965, he took the leadership of OVC after working as a technical studies teacher and then worked as an inspector for the Ontario Department of Education. Shoultz continued as the first Dean of the Technical Centre even after OVC was collaborating with Algonquin College. Algonquin College is named after the Algonquin First Nations Peoples who originally belonged to that area.

 Algonquin College Ottawa campus library is the largest of all the three campuses. Initial Study Permit

All Algonquin College Ottawa students need to have legal status in Canada, and you will need to present your status documents to get your student card. If this is your first time applying for a study permit, you can do it at the nearest Canadian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission. You can apply for your permit as soon as you receive your Offer of Admission from the University of Toronto and decide to accept. Because the permit legally entitles you to study in Canada, you will need it before you enter the country.

Temporary Resident Visa

Students from certain countries may also require an entry visa, also known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), to enter Canada. TRVs are issued by Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC).
